Privacy Policy

Stateys is a service operated by FATT, a Wyoming corporation ("we," "us"). This policy explains what we collect and how we use it.
What we collect
Your email address, a securely hashed password, and the leave information you choose to enter (balances, planned absences, and settings), and, if you save statements in the Paycheck Check, the pay amounts described below. We don't ask for your Social Security number, employee ID, or bank details, and you shouldn't enter them.
Importing your leave statement (ESL)
Import only your leave statement: the Employee Statement of Leave Information, which you can download from the leave balance area of Cal Employee Connect. Do not use your pay stub or paycheck for the leave import. It isn't needed there, and pay documents contain more personal and financial information than a leave statement. If you choose a file that isn't a leave statement, Stateys will not import it.
When you import your Employee Statement of Leave Information, the PDF is opened and read entirely inside your web browser on your own device. The file itself is never uploaded to Stateys or anyone else. Stateys reads only the leave figures it needs: the statement date, your bargaining unit, time base, accrual rate, carryover cap, months of state service, and your leave balances. Your name, SSN/UEID and position number are ignored and never leave your device.
When you click "Update my balances," those leave figures are saved to your Stateys account, just like balances you type in by hand, so your calendar and Leave Check work on any device. You can see them on your Balances page and delete them at any time.
Paycheck Check
If you use the Paycheck Check, you either choose your pay stub PDF (Direct Deposit Advice) or paste the text of your earnings statement. Either way it is read in your browser; the PDF is never uploaded and pasted text is cleared as soon as it has been read. Stateys ignores your name, the Social Security digits printed on the stub, your agency/unit code, direct-deposit number, and bank routing number. If you choose to save a statement, only the pay period, issue date, the dollar amounts and labels of your earnings, deductions, and employer contributions, and the leave hours shown on the stub are saved to your account, so next month's statement can be compared with it. You can delete saved statements at any time.
Benefits Check
The Benefits Check uses the pay statements you've saved. To check your Savings Plus limits, it also saves your age range (for example, "50–59"), never your birthdate, your answer about whether your prior-year wages were over the Roth catch-up threshold, and any year-to-date contribution totals you choose to enter. We never ask for or store your Savings Plus account number or login. For the open enrollment comparison, it saves who you're covering (for example, "Me + 1", not their names), the county you choose, and the health plan you say you're in now.
How we use it
Only to provide Stateys to you: calculating projections, saving your plan, and managing your subscription. We don't sell your data or share it with your employer.
Calendar sharing
If you choose to share your leave calendar, the one person you invite can see the dates, names and status of your base-plan leave (leave you mark private shows as "Busy"). They can't see your balances, leave types, notes, what-if plans, denied leave, pay or benefits information. Day-off requests they send, and their name and email address, are stored with your account so you can accept or decline them. You can stop sharing at any time, which removes their access and their requests. If someone shares a calendar with you, we use your email address only to let you open it.
You can also make a view-only link for someone without a Stateys account. It shows the same days off a partner sees, stops working after the time you choose (up to 30 days) or when you turn it off, and anyone who has the link can open it while it works. We store only a scrambled (hashed) copy of the link's secret, plus the name you gave it, when it ends and how many times it was opened.
Plan discussions
Comments you post in plan discussions are public. They're shown with a nickname (for example, "Member 4821") that is different in each thread, the region you post in, and the date. Your name, email address, plan and balances are never shown with a comment. We store which account posted each comment so you can delete it, so we can enforce the community rules, and so it's deleted with your account. If you report a comment, we record that your account reported it so each person can report a comment only once. Please don't include personal details in comments; we block common ones (emails, phone numbers, long ID numbers, street addresses) automatically.
Grievance library
Grievances you share in the grievance library are public. They're shown with the details you choose (topic, represented or excluded, bargaining unit, year, how far it went, outcome), the text you enter, the PDF you attach (if any), and the date. Your name and email address are never shown. You are responsible for removing identifying details from the text and the PDF before you share; we block common ones in the text (emails, phone numbers, long ID numbers, street addresses) and check the PDF's text on your device, but we can't detect names, signatures, handwriting or scanned pages. PDFs are stored with our hosting provider (Cloudflare). We store which account shared each post so you can edit or delete it, so we can enforce the rules, and so it's deleted, with its PDF, when you delete it or your account. If you report a post, we record that your account reported it and the reason.
Early-access list
If you join the early-access list, we keep your email address, the feature you asked about and, if you ask about another state, which state. We use them only to tell you when that feature or state is available, and to decide which states to support next. Write to us to be removed from the list.
Usage counts, error reports and referrals
We keep first-party daily totals of feature use and the months your account was active, to understand what's useful. If the app hits an error, it sends the error message and page (with emails and long numbers removed). We don't use third-party analytics or advertising trackers. If you sign up through someone's invite link, we record who invited you so they can receive a referral credit.
Payments
Subscriptions are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number.
Your choices
You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from the Account page.
